Thank you!!!!!

I just want to send a shout out to my gyrl Ink...thank you so much for your story! Each one will help all of us feel a little better a being free! its start with hair and and weight and race but together we will each find our since of peace in just being ourselves! Your story is all to familiar. No matter what race we have this idea tht European bone straight  is the cats meow! With this mode of thinking we will just have one more thing to be down on ourselves about...one more expense (relaxers every couple of weeks and such) that we dont need in our lives, one more reason not to enjoy life to its fullest i.e a hot shower an impromtu swim (head underwater) a good nite of real sleep. we sacrifice all of those things to name a few and for what...straight hair? We dont give our babies a chance to embrace their natural beauty before we stick a kiddie perm on em! Its a cycle and just like our moms we just do what we know...well knowledge is power and im trying to arm us all with as much as we can handle!

Switch up the game!

To the left is straight out of the shower curls to the left is blow dryed actual length. One thing i never did was measure my hair. I wanted to just never got around to it. But as you can see the color has changed at this point. Just got tired of trying to educate us and all that people could say was  "it aint natural if you color it"

Back to the Wash and Go!

Now see! Clipped ends and now more length! The only thing in my hair is twist and loc gel and frizzbuster. Nothing with alcohol in it! I Don't use shampoo everytime i wash my hair (everytime i take a shower) because of the detergents they use to give u all those bubbles and lather dry your hair out. Instead i use lemon juice in my conditioner which strips the impurities in a natural way. Don' t thank me thank Queen Afua!

Make sure to clip those ends!

If you are anything like any woman goin against the grain and taking the relaxer out of your life you tend to cling to your hair as it is growing back. However when your ends are split that is as good as dead hair. The strand continues to split all the way down to the root until it falls out. And when you go to flat iron it the ends look like this. this is the way my BFF would clip my ends when i flat iron it the frayed ends are what she cuts at. I swear each time she clipped my ends i had a growth spurt with my length

Woo!

Yea Babay! I will bust my 'fro out whenever! That was when i was dying my hair. I dyed it blonde then i put a cherry cola rinse over it and there you have it.

I feel like a NAPtural woman. But there is nothin like a natural man...2 at that lol. This is a side view of that style i was telling you about with the banana clip and the bump in on the top. They don't have extensions either! All natural!

My version of a ponytail

So i finally got fed up with only being able to wear my hair in the couple of different ways i wanted a ponytail so bad! LOL So i brushed and brushed and just as a way to not let that brushing go waste while i took a break (thick headed sistahs know) i just threw a banana clip in and guess what yall ...it looked cute! So i wore it that way for a while. Like i said my hair has been uneven so at this point the front was shorter than the back so i pinned a lil hump in the front (like a bumpit) and rocked it like that. people kept calling me Eva Pigford i ate it up and kept it going. With the length its grown to now it looks like a fauxhawk when i do it!

Dear Sistahs,

As you can see I am the only "model" being used on this page. Let's do something positive together and spread the word that we dont have to hide or run from our history any longer! Black women are the only race of women that impose this type of violence upon our crowns with weapons such as relaxers,and texturizers . It didn't sound right growing up seeing my white friends and classmates play in the water and swimming pools, me off to the side because my mom would kick fire from me if i got my hair wet! Let's stop this and lets start with our youth! NO MORE KIDDIE PERMS! Lets give our princesses a chance at believing that they are beautiful just the way they are. Dont put our insecurities off on them! Please send pics of you, your lil princess or anyone that you know and are proud to say they went against the grain. When European bone straight is so in they took it back to when black pride was at its height! You can do it!

See when you pull them apart the right way its thousands of tight curls! As it got longer people would ask if i had a straw set. It also trained my hair i believe thats why it was "extra" curly all the time. I never knew what to do with the sides because i let my hair grow out from a "style" it was always uneven growing in. I should have trimmed it properly but you wanna hold on to every piece when you want it to grow! Ladies?

Curls wen you start to take em out

When you take your twists out...put a nice layer of twist and loc gel on them and start to pull the twists apart take like four strands out and you will have tight curls. this was my first time taking them down like that. I didnt pull enough strands out of each twist and thats why it still looks twisted

More fingertwists!

5 months in

This is a pic 5 months after i started growing my hair. It is twisted up on one side and then twisted throughout. I know how hard it is to find things to do with your hair when it is this length. To get through the trying months in there i kept color in to give it "umph".

...thats it finger twist takes abt 3 hours to do it yourself put in a good movie and go 4 it u dont even need a mirror!
